Fields of Hope - Daffodils for Cancer

Released on: September 18, 2007, 8:01 am

Press Release Author: Orla Mejia / Live For Pink, Inc.

Industry: Non Profit

Press Release Summary: Imagine… a sea of beautiful, vibrant, yellow daffodils – a
show of hope for all those who have been touched by cancer. Five \'fields\' to be
planted October 2007.

Press Release Body: In October of 2007 hundreds of volunteers will come together to
plant 20,000 daffodil bulbs in South Brunswick and Princeton. Each bulb will be
planted to honor, remember, or support someone who has been affected by cancer. In
the spring of 2008, and each spring thereafter, these areas will become a show of
vibrant, stunning daffodils which brighten up the surroundings and bring hope and
happiness to all who pass by. Live For Pink, inc (LFP) - founded by Darla Donnellan,
Orla Mejia and Jacqueline Robicheau - is a New Jersey non-profit organization whose
vision is the eradication of late stage breast cancer diagnoses and ultimately a
cure for breast cancer.

“Cancer Societies around the world have adopted the daffodil as a symbol of hope.
Daffodils can push their way through the hard earth after a long winter, a true sign
of new life. That’s why daffodils lend themselves perfectly to the ‘Field of Hope’
project” says Orla.

Having such a show of daffodils will not only be beautiful, but also raise valuable
funds for the fight against breast cancer. As Jacqueline points out, “Sadly, we all
know someone - a mother, a sister, a friend, a neighbor - who has faced breast
cancer. In return for a donation people can dedicate a daffodil to honor that
special person in their lives.”

“There may not be a cure for breast cancer yet, but we certainly know how to fight
it. That’s exactly why Jackie, Orla and I have come together to form Live For Pink,
Inc. We know that early detection and treatment is absolutely key. We are committed
to funding the fight against breast cancer in any way we possibly can” Says Darla.
