Funny Business - The Musical Announces Extended Run!

Released on: September 27, 2007, 9:19 am

Press Release Author: Good Company Entertainment Ltd.

Industry: Entertainment

Press Release Summary: 2007 Toronto Fringe Festival’s Patron’s Pick, NOW Magazine’s
Critic’s Pick and official Best of the Fringe selection now runs until November 4,
2007 at the Diesel Playhouse

FUNNY BUSINESS – THE MUSICAL debuted at the 2007 Toronto Fringe and is now in a
limited commercial run at the Diesel Playhouse.

Press Release Body: FUNNY BUSINESS – THE MUSICAL has received universal critical
acclaim. Paula Citron (Classical 96FM) called it “a runaway hit”, Richard Ouzounian
(Toronto Star) said “Fresh, tuneful, and full of talent… a guaranteed good time!”
and the Globe and Mail predicted it “…could follow in the footsteps of the Drowsy
Chaperone.” NOW Magazine said, “NNNNN… brilliant musical comedy!” and EYE Weekly
said, “Four stars! A breakout success!”

The show follows the story of five office workers in Toronto who are “volunteered”
into mounting a team-building talent show to improve staff morale. What begins as a
standard team builder quickly degenerates into an every-drone-for-himself battle for
career survival. The show’s hilarious send-ups of common office politics,
well-intentioned but misdirected managers and “flavor-of-the-month” motivational
initiatives have obviously struck a chord with audiences. In fact, major
corporations have been booking private performances for employee outings.

The all‐Toronto cast and creative team has direction and choreography by Marc
Richard, musical direction and arrangements by Konrad Pluta, lighting design by
Sandra Marcroft, set and costume design by Dennis Horn, and is starring J. Sean
Elliott, Alison Woolridge, Chris Trussell, Trevor Campbell and Lana Carillo.

FUNNY BUSINESS – THE MUSICAL is produced by Good Company Entertainment Ltd, a new
theatre company dedicated to contributing quality commercial theatre to Toronto.
