Hips slow selling process, says National Homebuyers

Released on: September 17, 2007, 6:02 am

Press Release Author: Charlotte Burrows

Industry: Real Estate

Press Release Summary: The problems with Home information packs (Hips) continue,
with reports that some are being deemed invalid.

Press Release Body: Hips became a part of the home-selling process for properties
with three or more bedrooms from September 10th.

However, the Telegraph is reporting that many are being paid for and then deemed
invalid because crucial information is not being filled in correctly.

The problems centre on the Energy Performance Certificates (EPC) and in particular
energy efficiency information.

With some of the packs being classed as invalid, it is inevitably leading to
slowdown in the housing market and reducing the chances of making a quick property
sale.

The latest difficulties with the Hips scheme has caused yet more anger among
homeowners, many of whom are trying to shift their property because they are in
financial difficulty due to rising interest rates.

\"Why did the Department for Communities and Local Government not pick up on this
until three weeks into the start of the scheme?\" Neil Kurz, director of Energy
Experts, one of the country\'s biggest energy inspectors, told the Telegraph.

\"We\'ve lost a lot of time and money from having to redo these certificates,\" he added.

Julian King of National Homebuyers says \"Those who need help the most are not in a
position to pay a further £400 - £500 to sell their property and solve their
financial problems.

\"National Homebuyers receieves thousands of inquiries from customers who are looking
to sell their property quickly, without the need to have a Hips pack in place.

National Homebuyers are the UK\'s leading fast property purchase firm, guaranteeing a
quick property sale for vendors who need a quick sale of their home.

\"We do not require a Hips pack in place in order for a property owner to sell to us.
Selling on the open market is now even more slow, laborious, costly and draconian in
method\" adds Mr King.
