Press Release Body: A call centre is generally a centralized office used for the
purpose of receiving and transmitting a large volume of customer requests by
telephone. A call centre is operated by a company to manage and process incoming
product support from consumers. The call center also performs jobs such as
collective handling of letters, faxes, and e-mails. The call centers are also know
by the name \"contact centre\".

A call centre is operated through an extensive open workspace for call centre
agents. The work stations generally include a computer for each agent, a telephone
set/headset connected to a telecom switch along with one or more supervisor
stations. Increasingly, the voice and data pathways into the centre are linked
through a set of new technologies called computer telephony integration (CTI).

The main purpose of call centres are to interact with their customers, in order to
maintain their business. Some businesses even serve internal functions through call
centres. Nowadays the call centers also perform other outsourcing jobs such as
software development, market research and analysis etc.
The call centers generally use workforce management software, which uses historical
informations to generate automated shedules. The call centers also use a wide
variety of technologies to manage the large volume of work. The call centers are
mainly located in India, China, Australia, Philippines, Malaysia etc.
