First victory for Mumbai Champs, Patil and Yadav shine

Press Release Body: After two rock-solid blows in the earlier two matches, the Mumbai Champs have managed to register their first win in the ICL Twenty20 matches. This win was against the Ahmedabad Rockets. Avinash Yadav and Patil were two outstanding performances to whom the win can be credited without a doubt.
The unbeaten 66 runs off 46 balls scored by Patil made a mark in winning the match against the Rockets when the Champs were chasing. Damien Martyn, the Rockets’ Captain had chosen to bat first on winning to bat first but this decision does not seem to given any advantage to them. Hinds and Dholpure, the openers for the Rockets tried their best and could score only 30 and 29 runs respectively which surely were not enough. Other than these openers, no other could make their scores reach up to at least double figures with the exception of Sriram and Gillespie who made 19 and 15 runs. Patil gave a great performance by taking four wickets by giving away just fourteen runs in four overs.
Openers for the Champs failed to make any mark or any worthwhile contribution to the score as Paul scored mere one run and Jayantha having 13 runs to his credit. Patil came on the field just when he was so much required. He started hitting fours and sixes with assistance from Astle and Powar who both could not stay for very long on the pitch. There was however no stopping for Patil. He went on to score his 66 and led the team to their first victory by scoring 135 runs for their target of 132 runs.
The Champs have now scored their first couple of points but the Rockets still haven’t opened their accounts yet. We hope that they do better in the forthcoming matches.
