In general, you can say that stages of the development of shopping centres in Belarus highly resemble tendencies, taking place, among other countries, in Russia and Ukraine. Among the major tendencies are the gradual decrease of unorganized commerce rate, the arrival of international network operators at the market, building of big shopping centres in the outskirts of the city adjacent to big interchanges and building of entertainment areas in shopping centres.
However, all this appeared in Minsk with a four or five-year delay. At least, this has been the situation until recently. Over the last few years the rates of shopping centres’ development increased, which makes us hope for the decrease of the temporary difference.
