Unlike other professional golf ranking and point systems which rank golfers based on
their specific gender, age or tour, the World Golf Index compares “all” professional
golfers while competing against their peers on their respective home golf tours, and
also while crossing over and competing in official events on other golf tours.
This sort of ranking will be of interest to any one who is a golf fan regardless of
age, location, or gender. The website includes current World Golf Index standings
for 2008 season to date, and additional standings for each pro golf tour.
The World Golf Index is a multi tour performance index that compares and ranks the
performance of the world’s best golfers. Each golfer qualifies to be included in the
index, and then moves up or down in position based on their performance and
finishing position while competing in “official events” on the PGA, European PGA,
LPGA, and Champions Tours.
