FAIRMONT DESIGNS GIVES BACK

Released on: May 22, 2008, 9:13 am

Press Release Author: Connie Chen / Fairmont Designs

Industry: Non Profit

Press Release Summary: Donates Half Million USD to Aid Earthquake Victims

Press Release Body: Fairmont Designs has made a charitable donation of $500,000 in
an effort to provide much-needed relief to the victims of the devastating 7.9
earthquake that struck in the Sichuan province of central China on May 12, 2008.

Fairmont Designs is a successful leader in the international furnishings industry,
specifically in the residential, hospitality, and cabinetry sectors. Headquartered
in Orange County, California, Fairmont Designs’ family extends to many parts of the
world with each member attributing to the success in delivering quality goods at
competitive prices.

Consisting of employees in the Chinese offices and 2.5 million square feet of
manufacturing space, the earthquake hits particularly close to home. Fairmont
Designs’ goal is to give back and care for those in need. The generous donation is
a collaborative, company-wide effort from the chairman, shareholders, and employees
of Fairmont Designs. It is being distributed by a non-profit organization to
rebuild unsafe school buildings, ensuring that they meet safety code standards, and
provide food, water, as well as shelter among other relief efforts in earthquake
stricken regions.

The earthquake struck on May 12, 2008 in central China’s Sichuan province with a
magnitude of 7.9. It lasted for a long period of several minutes and was felt from
as far as Bangkok, Thailand to Taiwan. Within a 4 hour period, at least 7 more
earthquakes of 4.0-6.0 magnitudes struck. The death toll is at nearly 100,000 with
the figures expected to rise drastically. An estimation of one-third of the
buildings in Wenchuan have collapsed, including a high school burying 900 8th and
9th grade students, 2 primary schools, and the county hospital.
