Nevada, June 12, 2008 -- Lingtastic today announced the ability for its customers to send translated SMS messages on Tuesday, June 17th. “From that date our customers will be able to type in a message on our website and have it translated by a professional translator into Spanish, Portuguese (Brazilian) and Russian. That message will then be sent received by any SMS capable cell phone in the world in the language requested. The total cost for each message will generally will be under one dollar,” Announced Chas Watkins, Founder of Lingtastic.com. “We also tested sending translation to other languages like Tagalog and Thai and this morning and they worked perfectly so we will have all our other languages available very shortly.”
With the initial launch most messages will be cost under $1 to send to any SMS capable phone in the world. That includes the cost of translation and the sending of the message through the telecom network. However as some languages such as Russian and Chinese use more of the available SMS message for their character set their telecom costs may be higher to send a message of the same length.
“This is only stage one for Lingtastic,” enthused Mr. Watkins. “ We expect to have totally transparent SMS text translation up within the next few months so mobile users can send messages back and forth in their own languages. Each user will be ignorant of the translation process and will just send and receive messages in their own languages”.
