Rise in ski bookings by 8,5 per cent

Released on: September 30, 2008, 3:55 pm

Press Release Author: Michael Sental

Industry: Transportation & Logistics

Press Release Summary: Alpine Elements explain that ski holiday bookings have hit an
all time high and explain some possible reasons.

Press Release Body: Despite a dip in the British economy, Alpine Elements is happy
to announce that there has been an increase in the ski holiday bookings for the
Winter 2008/09. The bookings have increased by 8.5% as compared to last year.

Early December and January 2009 bookings are up as much as 22%, which we believe is
more to do with the good snowfall of January 2008, and of course our excellent value
prices which are driving people away from the peak December dates.

Parents are understandably refusing to pay the higher prices of the notoriously
expensive New Year week, (dates Dec 28-Jan 4), choosing to take their children out
of school for the first week of January (Jan 4-11), in which they can make great
savings of over £2,000 per family.

This year the South and North schools, basically from all regions are taking the
same week, which begins on 14th/ 15th February, so the half term is filling up fast.
Unfortunately, this has resulted in an increase in demand. The reduced flight
capacity has greatly hit the prices. Higher airfuel adds more to the problem.
Besides, the fact that airlines XL airways and BA airways grounded many of their
winter flights is helping no more to the situation.

The month of March is little behind mainly because of fast bookings in January. A
trend of last minute bookings has also been noticed which is mainly due to the
current economy and unpredictable nature of snow fall.

However, we anticipate experiencing a busy ski season when we find some truly
performing skiers. Winters being a perfect break from the usual chores, skiers would
love to make the best of the “break”.
