View the contents of archived files before downloading them from the Web

Released on: October 12, 2008, 2:36 am

Press Release Author: websiTeam

Industry: Internet & Online

Press Release Summary: All in all, WebArchivesViewer can't be called an ultimate
time saver however it can prove useful for those who often has to deal with
downloading archived files. After all, it's worth giving it a try, besides, it's
absolutely free to use.

Press Release Body: WebSiteam released a handy little app allowing to explore
archived files distributed on the Web. Once you discover the contents you can run
any file without unpacking the whole archive.

The regular algorithm of dealing with archived files includes downloading,
unpacking, finding (or not finding) what you need, and deleting the rest.
Considering this, all those RARs and ZIPs are much of a pig in a poke as you can't
see what you are downloading until you extract the contents. Now you can avoid
unnecessary actions because WebArchivesViewer provides you with a shortcut.

WebArchivesViewer is actually a browser plugin that places itself in the context
menu and allows an instant view of the files and folders compressed in an archive.
The procedure is really simple. All it takes is a right click on the link to an
archive. After that you choose the corresponding context menu item and
WebArchivesViewer displays the contents in a dialog. And there's even more to that -
you can run those files using your regular applications. (Naturally, the above won't
work with password protected archives.)

Yet, there are some things to add to wish list. WebArchivesViewer is only compatible
with the Internet Explorer so it's completely useless for FireFox and Opera users.
The recognized archive formats are ZIP and RAR. They're surely the most spread ones
but the list could be more extensive.
