LateRooms.com - Enjoy War Correspondent Exhibition in Manchester

Released on: December 14, 2011, 4:50 am
Author: LateRooms Ltd
Industry: Travel

People visiting Manchester over Christmas can see War Correspondent: Reporting Under Fire since 1914 at the Imperial War Museum North.

There is still time to catch this fascinating exhibition, which opened in the summer and will run until Monday January 2nd at the Salford Quays attraction.

It takes an in-depth look at life as a war correspondent - one of the most dangerous occupations in the world.

The exhibition, which is free to attend, explores the dangers of reporting from conflict zones and reveals how information on major wars is delivered to the civilian population.

Items on display at the Imperial War Museum North include the bullet that ricocheted into Kate Adie's leg in Lebanon and the burqa famously worn as a disguise by John Simpson to enter Afghanistan in 2001.

The museum is open daily between 10:00 and 17:00 GMT, although it will be closed on Christmas Eve, Christmas Day and Boxing Day.

It can be reached from the city centre via a short journey on the Metrolink tram system, with visitors alighting at MediaCityUK or Harbour City.

LateRooms.com features a wide variety of Manchester hotels that could appeal to visitors, including the Isis Hotel & Restaurant.

For more information on the exhibition, head to www.iwm.org.uk/visits/iwm-north.
